The Leyte Provincial Joint Security Control Center (PJSCC) has committed to ensuring safe and peaceful elections on May 12.
This pledge was reaffirmed during a security conference held April 29 at Camp Downes in Ormoc City.
Col. Arlino Sendaydiego, head of Task Force HOPE Eastern Visayas, Police Col. Dionisio Apas Jr., and Acting Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ma. Goretti Caseñas-Cañas expressed confidence in the coordinated efforts of the AFP, PNP, PCG, and other agencies to protect the integrity of the polls.
Police chiefs from towns under the Commission on Elections’ “yellow” and “orange” categories—areas flagged for potential security concerns—reported on their local situations. Col. Apas assured the public of increased patrols and checkpoints to deter election-related threats.
Sendaydiego emphasized that the joint forces will secure voters, especially in remote communities, and ensure the safety of teachers and other personnel involved in the election process.
Maj. Gen. Adonis Ariel Orio reminded troops to remain neutral and uphold the Constitution. He stressed the importance of protecting election materials and ensuring ballots are counted transparently to honor the people’s will.
