DSWD rolls out program to combat fake news

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is launching a nationwide information campaign called “Tamang Tulong sa Tamang Impormasyon” to combat misinformation and disinformation about its programs and services.

Public Relations Service director Clarissa Lara Duran explained that the campaign aims to counter fake news and incorrect information. “This is the primary information campaign of the DSWD against fake news and wrong information,” she said.

The campaign was initiated by Secretary Rex Gatchalian to protect vulnerable sectors from exploitation. “The DSWD serves three main clients: the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized sectors. These individuals, often in distress, are the most vulnerable to fraudulent schemes,” Duran added.

The initiative focuses on empowering the public with accurate, credible information to build resilience against misleading claims. It includes caravans across the country to inform citizens on how to access verified details about DSWD’s services. Rio N. Araja

Additionally, the 3TI campaign is being incorporated into the DSWD’s ongoing activities, such as family development sessions for beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps). Duran assured that the campaign would reach grassroots communities to ensure no one is left behind in the fight against fake news.
