With overseas absentee voting set to begin on April 13, the administration-backed Senate slate Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas on Friday urged overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos abroad to make their voices count by voting for leaders who will advance policies that protect and empower them and their families.
The Alyansa ticket is composed of former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay, Senator Ramon Bong Revilla, Senator Pia Cayetano, former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Senator Lito Lapid, former Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senate Majority Leader Francis “Tol” Tolentino, ACT-CIS Representative and former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo, and Deputy Speaker Camille Villar.
According to the Commission on Elections, 1.24 million overseas Filipinos are eligible to vote in this year’s midterm elections, a figure that reflects a 26.84% decrease from 1.62 million in 2022.
The month-long voting period, which ends on May 12, allows Filipinos based overseas to vote for senators and party-list groups who will help shape the country’s future.
Navotas City Rep. Toby Tiangco, Alyansa’s campaign manager, said overseas voters have the power to reshape the nation’s direction—even from thousands of miles away.
“Our kababayan abroad may be far from home, but their votes carry the weight of millions of families they continue to support. The best way to protect their sacrifices is to elect leaders who will fight for them,” Tiangco said.
He urged overseas Filipinos not to waste the opportunity, especially in major OFW hubs with the largest voter populations: United Arab Emirates (189,892), United States (178,033), Saudi Arabia (130,711), Hong Kong (83,330), and Taiwan (71,009).
“Hindi sapat ang papuri sa mga OFW. Kailangan nila ng konkretong aksyon. That begins with representation in the Senate that truly understands their struggles and will push policies to uplift their lives,” Tiangco added.
Alyansa is united in pushing key reforms for OFWs, including accessible consular assistance, stronger legal protection, reintegration support, and more job opportunities in the Philippines to reduce forced migration.
“Your vote matters now more than ever,” Tiangco told overseas voters. “The challenges facing OFWs today—contract violations, rising costs, family separation—can only be solved if we put the right leaders in place.”
He encouraged all overseas voters to verify their status, visit their embassies or consulates, and make their voices count.
“Boto ninyo, boses ninyo. Let’s work together for a Bagong Pilipinas that includes every Filipino, no matter where in the world they may be,” Tiangco said.
