Cebuana elite MB rider Shagne Yaoyao is working tirelessly to elevate her game to the next level.
Now ranked No. 127 in the world and currently the top mountain bike rider in the Philippines, Yaoyao is focused on improving her form as she prepares for a series of international competitions in the coming months.
The 27-year-old cyclist shared her upcoming plans after being recognized for her achievements in cross-country mountain biking during the 2025 Women in Sports Awards at the Sheraton Hotel in Manila.
“My offseason was delayed, so my buildup started late as well. But the offseason is important for me,” said Yaoyao, who is set to compete in Japan next week.
She recently competed in the Women’s Individual Time Trial (ITT) of the 2025 National Road Championships in Tagaytay on February 25, securing a silver medal. She clocked 49 minutes and 8.8 seconds, finishing behind reigning champion Jermyn Prado, who dominated the race with a time of 45:50.4.
“My preparation is continuous,” Yaoyao said.
A month earlier, in January, she clinched another silver medal in the women’s elite race of the Thailand Mountain Bike Cup in Kanchanaburi, which contributed to her rise in the UCI world rankings. From No. 394 in 2019, she has now climbed to No. 127, solidifying her status as the Philippines’ top cross-country rider.
She currently leads Nicole Quiñones (No. 237) and Adel Pia Sendrijas (No. 239) in the UCI rankings.
Yaoyao also dominated the ACF MTB Championships Women’s Elite and the Cross-Country 1st ASEAN MTB Championships last year, proving her consistency on the international stage.
With her momentum and unwavering dedication, Yaoyao is set to make an even bigger impact in the global mountain biking scene.
