He went for 5.85 meters after hitting 5.80 on three tries.

But Obiena had no luck in his three attempts to go higher.

Poland’s Piotr Lisek and Norway’s Sondre Guttormsen both leapt to a height of 5.70 meters, but the Pole settled for the silver via countback.

Obiena’s leap was higher than when the 29-year-old Filipino superstar rewarded himself a gold medal at the Meeting Metz Moselle Athlelor in France, where he cleared 5.7 meters on his first try

It was also higher than his 5.65-meter performance, when Obiena earned a silver medal at the International Jump Meeting Cottbus in on Thursday in Germany.

Obiena, who recently recovered from a back injury, settled for second to last in the 8-man ISTAF Indoor on Monday last week in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The 6’2” Obiena cleared  5.55 meters for seventh place out of eight participants.
