“Impeachment cases are both legal and political, they are mostly political”
VICE President Sara Duterte “seriously considering” running for President in 2028? I must give Sara an “A” for thinking she could make it in 2028.
Santa Banana, does Sara Duterte still believe she can become president with no less than three impeachment cases filed against her for culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, graft and corruption constituting plunder, among others?
Sara’s impeachment cases will surely be resolved before or even shortly after the May midterm elections once the House of Representatives will adopt former Speaker Manny Villar’s style of just getting one-third of the votes of members of the House to submit the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate which will resolve Sara’s impeachment case by simple majority.
As I had said in my previous column that impeachment cases are both legal and political, they are mostly political.
From where I sit as a journalist, I believe the impeachment of Sara as Vice President is a done deal considering everything, especially after the findings by the House Quad committee that almost all, if not all, the recipients of Sara’s confidential funds amounting to millions were fictitious, without birth, marriage or even death certificates.
Santa Banana, that constitutes plunder in any language!
I must give Sara Duterte credit for her bravado, or as they say in the vernacular “bilib sa sarili” (overconfidence or trust in oneself) for thinking the electorate will still vote for her after her impeachment, especially for plunder.
The Philippine electorate can can be fooled sometimes, but not all of the time.
Sara’s ambition to become president is amazing. My gulay, she even thought she could have been president in 2022 if she did not consent to be the running mate of President Marcos Jr.. Well, anybody can dream.
But if I were Sara, it would do her good to consult her lawyers, including her father, former President Duterte on how to survive all the accusations against her.
I have seen all the impeachment cases, including those of former President Erap Estrada and former Chief Justice Renato Corona. Impeachment cases are mostly political in nature.
Frankly, the Vice President’s impeachment cases will be in the hands of the Senate before or immediately after the May midterm polls. I don’t see many among the 24 senators who will side with Sara except those who have always been for the Dutertes.
My advice to Sara is simply to concentrate on her impeachment cases instead of “seriously considering” running for president in 2028.
Here’s my list of 15 Senate winnables based on poll surveys and former senators and fellBong Go, Tito Sotto, Francis Tolentino, Erwin Tulfo, Ben Tulfo, Bong Revilla, Ping Lacson, Pia Cayetano, Manny Pacquiao, Camille Villar, Abby Binay, Lito Lapid, Willie Revillame, Francis Pangilinan and Bato dela Rosa.
I am basing my list as poll surveys show, and who people think will make it.
Santa Banana, if indeed some of them are winnable, the Senate will soon become a stage of popular celebrities. I won’t be surprised if sooner or later, Pokwang and Vice Ganda will make it to the Senate.
All I can say is unless the electorate become educated, they deserve the people they elect into office.
