Marcos to sign 2025 budget, three priority bills before Christmas

Presidential Legislative Liaison Office Secretary Mark Llandro Mendoza said President Ferdinand Marcos aims to finalize the P6.352 trillion national budget for the fiscal year 2025 and three other priority bills before year-end.

In an interview Monday, Mendoza highlighted progress on measures identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), noting that 70 to 80 percent of these are advancing in Congress.

“This year, there are just a few left because some are still in bicameral, while others are still in the Senate plenary. So, this year, hopefully this year, maybe just a few. It will probably be signed, at most probably four for this year,” Mendoza said.

The proposed budget for 2025 is among the key measures expected to be enacted before Christmas, alongside other legislation still in the bicameral conference committee or Senate plenary discussions.

Mendoza also touched on the pending postponement of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) elections, which remains under deliberation in the House of Representatives and awaits hearings in the Senate.

Earlier, President Marcos led the 7th LEDAC meeting in Malacañang to discuss the progress of priority bills under his administration.
