Palace shortens government work hours on September 23

Malacañang on Wednesday issued Memorandum Circular (MC) 64, shortening work in government offices under the Executive Branch from 3 p.m. onward next Monday, September 23.

The memorandum, released Wednesday, is in observance of National Family Week. It encourages government employees to support activities organized by the National Committee on the Filipino Family.

“Suspension of work in other branches of government, independent bodies, and the private sector is also encouraged to provide Filipino families the full opportunity to celebrate the 32nd National Family Week,” the memorandum read.

Exemptions apply to agencies responsible for essential services, such as health, disaster response, and other critical operations, which will continue as normal.

The memorandum aligns with Proclamations No. 60 (1992) and No. 326 (2012), which established Family Week and “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day. Signed by Executive Secretary Lucas P. Bersamin on September 12, the memorandum takes immediate effect.
