National ID proposal passes House committee level

The House Committee on Population and Family Relations has passed the bill mandating the National Identification (ID) System.

Committee Chairman and Laguna Third District Representative Sol Aragones says, this measure will spare the people the hassle of having to secure several IDs for different purposes from many government agencies.

“Dati, halos nasisira ang mga wallet dahil sa dami ng ID. Itong National ID, magagamit sa lahat ng government offices (wallets used to be damaged due to so many IDs. This National ID can be used in all government offices),” she said.

If enacted into law, the National ID will be issued to persons 18 years old and above.

Those who will violate the ID system will face a jail term from six months to two years.

Fine ranges from P 50,000 to P 200,000.

The Philippine Statistics Authority will be the agency that will release the IDs.
