Typhoon ‘Gener’ heads to Taiwan

Typhoon ‘Gener’ is now heading towards northern Taiwan.

It it expected to be out of the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Saturday evening.

‘Gener’ is not expected to make landfall in the Philippines.

PAGASA weather forecaster Manny Mendoza says, ‘Gener’ has been located 245 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.

The typhoon carries maximum sustained winds of up to 150 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 185 kph.

‘Gener’ is moving west at 24 kph.

Typhoon signal number 1 is up over Batanes, northern Cagayan and Babuyan group of islands.
